Ronald C. Smith

Ron has had a strong influence on Stewart & Irwin, helping the firm grow from about 15 to 40 attorneys and helping shape the retail automotive practice. Ron is responsible for taking on significant class action cases against automobile manufacturers that have resulted in an improved business climate in the industry.

Ron has represented hundreds of automobile dealerships throughout the state since the late 1960s. A former chief hearing officer for the Indiana Department of Revenue, Ron also represents closely held businesses and their owners.

Ron received his doctor of jurisprudence degree from the Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis.

"If there's one word I would like to have associated with me, that's integrity—integrity with force. It's a public trust position, and you have a responsibility to adhere to that."

Ron's sixth-grade autobiography said that he wanted to be either an attorney or an actor. Most important, Ron says, was to be given the opportunity to be of service.
