James W. Brauer

Jim, who represents physicians and health care providers, has tried more than 30 medical malpractice cases to juries over the last 25 years.

Jim began focusing almost exclusively on medical malpractice cases in the late 1970s after Stewart & Irwin partners played a significant role in drafting the Indiana Medical Malpractice Act. He also handles complex commercial and insurance litigation.

Jim holds a doctor of jurisprudence degree from the Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis.

Jim's competitive nature manifests itself in the form of basketball officiating during his leisure time. He's also active in pro bono cases, offering his services to several nonprofit groups that serve those in need of legal assistance.

"Without sounding corny, I think you have to give back. We try to encourage all of our lawyers to do pro bono work. The community has been pretty good to us."
