Doug is well-known for successfully reviving the hard-fought decade-long battle by Indiana Downs to obtain a license from the Indiana Horsing Commission to build and operate the state's second parimutuel horse track and racino.

Doug has served as inside general counsel to a national mortgage lender and works as outside general counsel to the Indiana Association of Mortgage Brokers, the Indiana Builders Association and businesses in a wide variety of industries, including mortgage lending, software, health care, manufacturing, real estate development, gaming and horse racing. He is a registered lobbyist, and regularly represents his clients before local, state and federal regulatory and legislative bodies.

Recently named one of Indianapolis' leading and most influential lawyers by the Indianapolis Business Journal, Doug also was named one of Indiana's "Super Lawyers" by Indianapolis Monthly. The late Gov. Frank O'Bannon also named Doug a Sagamore of the Wabash, the highest state governmental honor bestowed upon a civilian.

Doug is a longtime member of the Capital Improvement Board of Managers of Marion County, comprised of nine community leaders responsible for the ownership, financing and operation of the Indiana Convention Center, Lucas Oil Stadium, the RCA Dome, Conseco Fieldhouse and Victory Field.

Doug earned his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University and his doctor of jurisprudence degree from the Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis.

As a former president of the International Center of Indianapolis, and a founding director and immediate past board president of the International School of Indiana, Doug has been a major force in helping Indianapolis become a community hospitable to people of all cultures. Doug is also the immediate past board president of St. Mary's Child Center, a charity providing educational and social services to poor, at-risk preschoolers.

"I'm fascinated by business and the entrepreneurial spirit. I love to learn about my clients' businesses-the nuts and bolts of how they operate."
