Connie brings to her clients over twenty years of experience in large law firm practice, as General Counsel for two publishing companies and in private practice. Connie provides legal services in the fields of intellectual property, technology, marketing and distribution as well as employment and consulting contracts.
Connie also has significant business experience having served as Vice President Business Affairs at Sunrise Publications, a subsidiary of Hallmark Cards, where she managed the artist relations, distribution, and licensing agency departments in addition to serving as General Counsel.
With her background in math and physics, Connie had planned to become a patent attorney after law school. But her first assignments at Kirkland & Ellis in Chicago litigating trademark and copyright disputes for General Motors, Kraft Foods and Warner Brothers were so much fun, she never looked back. Along the way, Connie has learned a lot about cheese, sherry, greeting cards, sunglasses, call center software, auto financing, prize-winning horses, and lighting fixtures, to name just a few.
Connie received her doctor of jurisprudence degree magna cum laude from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in 1989 and her B.S. in applied mathematics from Indiana University in 1985. Connie is admitted to the Indiana State Bar and the U.S. District Courts for both the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.
Connie is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) as well as the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA). She is also a member of the Intellectual Property Section of the Indianapolis Bar Association's Executive Committee and serves on the Board of Directors for Art with a Heart. When not in the office, Connie enjoys hiking with her dog and watching the birds at her many feeders.
"Every business has intellectual property of one sort or another and I enjoy working with all of them regardless of size or industry. Understanding the client's business not only helps me help them, it takes me in new directions--always learning and always interesting."
